IN THE NEWS
We have a new medical building Click Here to see pictures. The building was purchased and donated by the Muth family along with a portable air conditioner. It will be used for recovering spays and other minor surgeries. The Muth's and volunteers, with the expert help of my son, finished the inside with insulation and wall board. My son completed the installation of cabinets. We are so grateful for the kindness presented by the Muth family in memory of their loved pet pig Brin. We also have had a Bair Hugger donated and it keeps the animals body temperature up after surgeries. During surgeries, even on warm water beds, because of the length of surgery and anesthesia animals temperatures drop and the Bair Hugger will bring the temps back to normal The medical building has everything we need as far as medical supplies, also donated by the Muth family, to take care of emergencies and after care. It is a clean dust free environment with stalls, a sink, cabinets to keep equipment and supplies clean and sterile. The floor has been coated so if an animal has a urine accident it will not soak into the floor and can be cleaned. We have a AC unit with humidifier and heat lamps. The walls are completely washable surface. So, good things have happened to us this year. Allot of wonderful people have stepped forward to help.
Sahara Rain
Sahara Rain was found running down the road trying to get away from dogs when some people saw her and grabbed her. She was only 5# . They could not get her to eat so they asked for my help and she was a lot of work because she was so young and they just could not take care of her properly so I took her. Later she started limping and I took her to the vet who x-rayed her. She had a Salter Harris fracture at the growth plate at the carpus of her left leg. Surgery was not an option so she had to be put in a cast for a few weeks. Then she was fitted for a brace. Sahara is now 2 ½ years old and her leg is almost healed. She is a small pig at 65 #. I want to thank Dr. Shannon Kennedy for the x-rays and Dr. Nayfield for x-rays and a reduced fee for the cast. I also want to thank Dr. Nayfield for talking to the Ortho Vet Company to give a reduced fee on a custom made cast for Sahara to wear. You can see Sahara in the picture wearing her cast. Lynne
Hillary and Tessa
Picture is Hillary in background with Tessa in front. Tessa was only about 5 # who was in a neighborhood being chased by dogs. Similar story happenings as Sahara Rain. People told me about Tessa and I kept an eye out for her and finally spotted her. Making friends with her I grabbed her very quickly and put her in my van. Tessa is now about a year old . She goes to schools for Education, Kiss A Pig days, Great American Teach In's and to Nursing homes. She does very well. Lynne
